Obituary for Barbara Jean Eggersdorf

Barbara Jean Eggersdorf, 85, of Quincy, Florida, passed away peacefully on August 19, 2025, at Westminster Oaks, just days before her 86th birthday. Born in Quincy on August 27, 1939, to William Herbert and Florence Henrietta Agerton, Barbara Jean—affectionately known as “Jean” to family and friends—brought laughter, kindness, and a radiant smile to all who knew her.

A proud graduate of Quincy High School’s class of 1957, Jean moved to Jacksonville, Florida, where she met and married Carl John Eggersdorf and began her career at Blue Cross Blue Shield. Carl’s job moved them to South Florida, where Jean and Carl owned and operated the Miami and Hollywood Florida Yamaha dealerships, known for Cody Carts and Yamaha motor bikes. In 1964, she gave birth to her beloved daughter Leah, followed by Christi, in 1972. Jean’s entrepreneurial drive continued at Castro Convertible and, upon returning to Quincy in 1981, at Round Trampoline. Her ambition culminated in the founding of Regal Trampoline in Tallahassee in 1988, which she operated until her “retirement.”

Never one to remain idle, Jean found immense purpose in her role at the Area Agency on Aging, coordinating the EHEP program and leading the 14-county Christmas Connection Drive, a highlight of her life’s work. Jean’s love for travel took her across the globe, but her greatest passion was always her family.

She is survived by her children, Christi Ann Eggersdorf, Leah and Max Clark; her grandchildren, Alex Clark, Bryce Clark, and Annslee Sirmans; her siblings, Lee and Betty Chalker; William Walker(deceased) and Pricilla Agerton; cherished nieces and nephews, John Markham and Kelley Cody, GJ and Leslie Kimbril, Deborah Jean Cody, Josh and Leslie Agerton, Emily Agerton, and dear friends, including Sherri Wills, who has been a blessing to the family for many years.

Jean’s family and friends will gather to celebrate her remarkable life at a later date. Above all, Jean cherished time with her loved ones, and her legacy of laughter and love will continue to comfort those she leaves behind.

Charles McClellan Funeral Home, Quincy, FL., 850-627-7677.
