Obituary for Katherine Macon Bryant
Katherine Macon Bryant, of Quincy, Florida, Mexico Beach, Florida, and Houston, Texas, passed away Sunday, February 19, 2017 at Mexico Beach. She was born in Tallahassee, Florida May 29, 1965, to Charlie and Josephine Jordan Macon of Greensboro, Florida. She graduated from Robert F. Munroe Day School in 1983 and Tallahassee Community College in 1985, with a degree in Dental Hygiene.
Kathy was an incredibly sweet, caring woman, and we are heartbroken to have lost her so soon. All that knew her were touched by her generous spirit, beautiful smile and sparkling green eyes. She was an Angel on earth. Kathy lost her Mother, Jo Macon, about 19 years ago and took on the role of matron for the family. She was the consummate organizer and made sure every get together with family and friends was well planned so all could enjoy. She loved her boys, Jason and Drew Cook, and was proud of the men they have become. Kathy enjoyed travelling with her husband, Dave Bryant, recently completing her first trip to Europe last fall. Although Kathy grew up in the small town of Greensboro, Florida, she fell in love with Paris and didn’t want to leave. She often joined Dave as he traveled for business, and Kathy was known by many of his colleagues and industry associates. They often rode Harleys together as Kathy enjoyed experiencing life to the fullest.
Kathy had many friends, as everyone that met her could not help but like her. A number of her closest friends were classmates at Robert F. Munroe School, and she developed several other deep friendships while attending Dental Hygiene school. Many of these close friends took an annual “girls trip,” which Kathy typically planned.

There is no place that Kathy felt more at home and relaxed than Mexico Beach. She called it her “happy place.” She took long walks on the shore there and enjoyed eating raw oysters. Her favorite clothes were a bathing suit, sunglasses and flip flops. She especially loved sitting on her deck looking at the sun setting over the pier. Kathy was a lifelong athlete and worked out regularly. She was a member of the Quincy women’s tennis team and recently joined the Walden tennis team in Houston, after moving there with her husband. The next challenge she was working to conquer was completing her first triathlon. It was there at Mexico Beach during a training ride that Kathy was tragically struck by a motorist.
Words cannot express the gift that Kathy was to her friends and family, nor how difficult it is to lose her. She was, and always will be, cherished.
In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Katherine Macon Bryant memorial scholarship at Robert F. Munroe Day School, 91 Old Mt. Pleasant Rd., Quincy, FL., 32351.
Kathy was preceded in death by her mother Jo Macon. She is survived by her loving husband, David Bryant, father Charlie Macon (Jean), sons Jason Cook and Drew Cook, brother Ronnie Macon (Judy), sister Gayle Fisher (Chuck), step daughters Kelsi Bryant and Kaitlyn Bryant, stepson Cody Bryant, stepbrothers David Peacock (Martha), Rusty Peacock (Sherrie), Tom Peacock (Karen), and an abundance of nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends.
Visitation will be held at First Presbyterian Church of Quincy, 306 North Madison Street, Quincy, FL 32351 at 10:00 AM on Thursday, February 23, 2017, with the service following at 11:00 AM.
Charles McClellan Funeral Home, 15 S. Jackson St, Quincy, FL, (850) 627-7677, is in charge of arrangements.
