Edward M. (Eddie) Dyal
Edward M. Dyal passed away February 27, 2018, at the age of 88.
Born in Apalachicola, Florida on March 2, 1929, he was next to the youngest of five children and moved with his family to Quincy, Florida in 1931, graduating from Quincy High School in 1947. He served in the US Air Force during the Korean War and was a graduate of Florida State University. He was a member of the first FSU Marching Chiefs. He also played clarinet saxophone in the Bob Cole Orchestra and the Harry Shepherd Orchestra. He was a General Lines Insurance Agency owner and had been in the insurance business for over 40 years, retiring in 2000. He enjoyed music, fishing with his children and later with his grandchildren, and cooking for his family. He was an active member of Glen Julia United Methodist Church in Mt. Pleasant where he had taught Sunday School for over 50 years.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Shirley Jones Dyal, daughters Kathy Dyal Lewis (Woody) of Crawfordville, Florida, Alice Dyal Edwards (Buddy), of Pelham, Georgia, sons Charles Dyal (Cheri), of New Orleans, LA, and George Dyal (Rupy), of Tallahassee. He also leaves behind eight grandchildren, Victor Brown Lewis, Cullen, Guthrie, and Robbie Edwards, Bryn and Tom Dyal, Shawn and Georgia Dyal, and one great granddaughter, Riley Dodd-Lewis. He was predeceased by his parents, Judge and Mrs. E.M. Dyal, a sister, Alice Dyal Bell, brothers Lutus Dyal, Talmadge Dyal, and Russell Dyal. Visitation will be held at Charles McClellan Funeral Home Quincy, FL, from 6:00 to 7:00 pm on Friday, March 2, 2018. Funeral services will be held at Glen Julia United Methodist Church on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at 3:00 pm, followed by burial at Old Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
